How To Write A Guide!

By Dark Bow

  • Introduction:
I am making this guide to teach you the basics of making a guide.

When you make a guide you want to help the member. Not make them read a ton of useless information. You also want to include enough information to help the member. You might think a good guide is just "Step 1: Info, Step2: info", well thats not true. Its a guide, but that sort of guide usually dosnt include enough info.

Now, this is a longer guide, and i know you probably don't want to read all of this, but i hope i can get you to read enough that you get what it takes to read a guide.

  • Creation

Before you make a guide you want everything ready. You don't want a guide lacking any information so here is what I do, you can do different but this is what i recommend.

When i make a guide i like to have key points of intrest, Such as the following:

  1. Good Grammar
  2. Colorful
  3. Pictures included
  4. Little Information, More visual intrest
Side-Note:
For a title i always use the same format.

Now these might make a good guide, and might not. It depends in the order you put them and how much time you are willing to take to make the guide.

  • Good Grammar

Good grammar i think is very important. Im not saying that you have to be a master at it, but i think you should be most decent in english to have good grammar.

  • Colorful

You want your guide to stick it. Keeping it the default gray color i think is very boring and you wont want the reader bored. Then they will just click the back button and probably never return. Add some color, This will make ur guide that much more better.

  • Include Pictures

Pictures are a main point in guide creation. You dont always need them, but they are highley recommended.

  • Pictures Verse Text

Now, you want picture right? but you dont want to overflow your guide with pictures. you want to include text in ur guide so u can explain better what you are trying to help them with. 3 - 6 pictures in a medium length guide is what i think is good. You can include more, but make sure u balance it with the text.

  • Ordered

well you want your guide to have a order. You dont want ur text and pictures all over the place, you want them to go with the flow and have the same order. For example, if you are teaching them how to buy something on the server, you want them to be able to find the place, before you say right click.

  • Other Information

This is just my way of making a guide, i hope i can help you guys out with this and i hope to see your guides imporve among the voidage community.

I have a feeling i missed something, so if i have PLEASE post it. I will give you credits towards the guide.

Thanks,
Best Regards,
Dark Bow
